The role of the anesthesiologist is to provide the patient with excellent perioperative pain control using multimodal pain management techniques. One of the most important techniques the physician needs to perfect is performance of peripheral nerve blocks utilizing ultrasound guidance. The purpose of this course is to provide the physician with a comprehensive update on the latest developments in point-of-care ultrasound. This will be accomplished through practice on live models. Emphasis will be placed on scanning technique and image interpretation.
In addition, the course will cover the use of ultrasound at the bedside to assess airway, lung, cardiac and gastric pathology.
This one day course will provide physicians with evidence-based methods and strategies to assist them in providing better treatment options for their patients. Faculty presenting and interacting with participants at this activity have been selected on the basis of their comprehensive clinical experience and academic excellence.
