Management of Low Back Pain and Osteoarthritis: Current and Future Treatments
The UC San Diego School of Medicine and the UC San Diego Center for Pain Medicine invite you to attend Management of Low Back Pain and Osteoarthritis: Current and Future Treatments, to be held September 22, 2018 at the Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute in La Jolla, California.

This course will provide an update on the management of chronic musculoskeletal pain conditions with a focus on osteoarthritis (OA) and low back pain (LBP). It is designed to improve knowledge on shared pathophysiological mechanisms between OA and LBP, which will enhance competence in the diagnosis and directed treatment planning of OA and LBP. In addition, future and innovative treatments will be discussed.

Course faculty includes clinical scientists with knowledge of basic mechanisms and vast clinical experience. Participants have the opportunity to submit challenging cases in advance for discussion with faculty in a dedicated session.

Course Objectives: After participating in this educational activity, participants should have:

-Increased knowledge regarding common pathophysiologic mechanisms shared between neuromuscular chronic pain conditions
-Increased knowledge regarding data pertaining to investigational therapies being studied in common chronic musculoskeletal pain conditions
-Greater competence related to accurate diagnosis of common chronic musculoskeletal pain conditions
-Greater competence related to the development of a treatment plan to manage common chronic musculoskeletal pain conditions
