The Brain Tumor Center at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA presents its third annual comprehensive update on emergent diagnostic and treatment modalities for the management of brain and spine tumors. This course will focus on the diagnosis and multi- disciplinary management of patients with primary and metastatic brain and spine tumors, and will feature faculty experts from neurosurgery, neuro-oncology, radiation oncology, medical oncology, pain management, neuroradiology, and neuropathology. The program will provide sessions on the latest advances in diagnosis and treatment of brain and spine tumors, including a review of the current state-of-the-art management of these tumors.
Each tumor-specific didactic session will then be followed by case-based presentations demonstrating the multidisciplinary approach of a brain tumor board to personalize care for patients with brain and spine tumors. In addition, we will explore new and emerging techniques for cranial metastases including novel-imaging, MR-guided laser ablation, neo-adjuvant radiation, and emerging chemotherapeutic strategies for metastatic brain tumors. Finally, we will explore multimodal management of spinal metastasis including novel radiation approaches, surgery, and pain management. This format is intended to encourage and ensure audience participation.
At the conclusion of this course, participants should be better able to:
