2016 Gastroenterology and Hepatology for the Primary Care Practitioner
Needs Assessment:
This conference is knowledge based and designed to change physician competence. This symposium is part of a strategy to address these educational needs and improve the health of all patients with digestive diseases. This year?s conference will specifically address these identified educational needs and provide practitioners with state-of-the-art tools to improve treatment options for their patients. Faculty presenting and interacting with participants at this activity have been selected on the basis of their comprehensive clinical experience and academic excellence.
Course Objectives:
At the end of the activity, participants should be able to:
Discuss current interferon-free treatments for hepatitis C and how they can be applied to primary care settings.
Define the issues regarding the epidemiology of hepatitis B and identify the prevention and treatment options for this disease to improve patient outcomes.
Describe the latest screening and surveillance guidelines for colon cancer.
Evaluate and treat the patient who presents with IBS.
Discuss the workup and treatment plan for patients presenting with different liver diseases.
Describe the updated guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of GERD.
Define Barrett?s Esophagus and when to refer for surveillance and/or treatment of this disease.
Evaluate and treat the patient who presents with chronic constipation.
