One of these is the provision of influenza vaccines. Since it is Fall and the 2015-1026 flu season will soon start, this is the topic of our next PCN CME module. This is something we do every year, but it best to regularly review the specifics and recommendations regarding the vaccines and medication treatments. Target Audience This module has been prepared for the primary care physicians who provide care to adults and children within the UC Davis Primary Care Network to improve their knowledge regarding selecting the correct influenza vaccine for their patients, and to provide treatment if they become ill with influenza. Objectives: After reading the course material, participants should be able to: 1. Describe the different influenza vaccines including their indications and contraindications. 2. Discuss the use of antiviral medications used for the treatment of influenza. 3. Adult Track - Geriatric Competency - Up to 2.0 approved credits
The Geriatric Medical Training Act of 2000 requires general internists and family physicians caring for a patient population in which 25 percent or greater are 65 years old or older to complete at least 20 percent of all mandatory continuing education hours in geriatric medicine or the care of older patients.
