Mastering Pediatric Resuscitation: A Hands-on Simulation Based Course Including APLS Certification
Needs Assessment:
This activity is designed to increase knowledge, improve competence, improve performance, and change behavior regarding the diagnosis, treatment and management of the critically-ill and injured pediatric patient. Course participant evaluations and our community physician annual needs assessment survey have identified the need for up to date information about pediatric resuscitation. Topics to be presented include instruction in critical pediatric procedures, neonatal emergencies, non-traumatic surgical emergencies, hands-on interactive skills stations, as well as ultrasound use in pediatrics. This conference will also present a comprehensive, practical review of Advanced Pediatric Life Support (APLS) content. This year?s conference will provide practitioners with evidence based methods and strategies to assist them in providing better treatment options for their patients. Faculty presenting and interacting with participants at this activity have been selected on the basis of their comprehensive clinical experience and academic excellence.
Course Objectives:
Assess and manage the pediatric patient with signs of life threatening emergencies Choose appropriate interventions for the pediatric patient with cardiovascular, respiratory, traumatic, surgical, metabolic, toxicological and CNS emergencies Apply pediatric procedural skills in the areas of airway management and vascular access Improve ultrasound in pediatric patients
