Needs Assessment:
The UC Davis Health System is committed to discovering and sharing knowledge to advance health. This course is designed to change physician competence in the management of patients with Diabetes (type 1 and 2), obesity, dyslipidemia as well as endocrine disorders
Course Objectives:
At the end of the activity, participants should be able to:
Influence patients to make changes to improve health
Define and use currently available insulins at right time schedule, type and dose appropriately
Summarize nutritional principles and help patients adjust diets according to personal, ethnic and cultural practices
Recognize when new treatment options, such as incretin and sodium, glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors therapies, and justify how to combine or switch
Explain what is necessary and sufficient for effective treatment of hyperthyroidism
Describe how to approach a patient suspected of adrenal insufficiency in the in-patient and out-patient settings
Discuss how to evaluate menstrual disorders and the current treatments for female infertility
State how to evaluate and manage male infertility
Name different treatments for vitamin D deficiency and their benefits and limitations
