Activity Details
Activity Name:
10th Anniversary of the Annual Psychotic Disorders Conference
Needs Assessment:
This conference on psychotic disorders has been designed to respond to areas of need as identified through past conference evaluations and annual needs assessment surveys of participants. The program is knowledge and experience-based and designed to update participants on important new approaches to the treatment of psychotic disorders and clinical high-risk states.
Course Objectives:
At the end of the activity, participants should be able to:
Explain the effects of cannabis on the development of the adolescent brain and mechanisms by which the drug may increase risk for psychosis and worsen it after it has already occurred.
Discuss the effects of cannabis and antipsychotic medication on the structure and function of the brain in young people with schizophrenia.
Distinguish the role of new methods of brain stimulation (TMS ? Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation; tDCS ? transcranial Direct Current Stimulation) may play in the treatment of common mental disorders.
Identify new developments in early psychosis specialty care at UC Davis and how this model is being disseminated in California.
Increase awareness about new developments in mental health research across UC Davis and its impact on care in our community.
