This live, online program (webinar) is designed to provide pharmacists with the opportunity to learn more about the provision of evidence-based medication abortion care, as well as the current and future roles for pharmacists.




At the completion of this knowledge-based educational activity, pharmacists will be able to:

  1. Describe the current climate of access to abortion services in the United States.
  2. Review the mechanisms, indications, safety, and effectiveness of mifepristone-based regimens for medication abortion.
  3. List patient counseling points on medication use for medication abortion.
  4. Explain the effects of the US FDA REMS requirement that prohibits pharmacy dispensing of mifepristone on access to medication abortion.
  5. Discuss current and future pharmacist roles in the delivery of medication abortion services.


This live activity series was initially released on May 15, 2023 and expires on June 30, 2024. There is no charge to participate, complements of ANSIRH, and it has received no commercial support.

To receive credit participants must login to and participate in the entire webinar, complete the pre- and post-activity quizzes, and evaluate the content. For pharmacists, credit will be available through CPE Monitor electronically 2-4 weeks after participation. Your NAPB eProfileID and birthdate must be provided to receive credit. Non-pharmacists can download and print a certificate of participation at the conclusion of the activity.
