42nd Annual Advanced Nephrology: Nephrology for the Consultant
The UC San Diego School of Medicine, Division of Nephrology-Hypertension presents the 42nd Annual Advanced Nephrology: Nephrology for the Consultant conference to be held at the Coronado Island Marriott on January 19-21, 2023. This course has been designed with the practicing nephrologist in mind, providing clinically relevant, up-to-date practice and management guidelines on a range of nephrology topics that should prove valuable in the day-to-day practices of nephrology.

Description: The UC San Diego School of Medicine, Division of Nephrology-Hypertension presents the 42nd Annual Advanced Nephrology: Nephrology for the Consultant conference to be held at the Coronado Island Marriott on January 19-21, 2023. This course has been designed with the practicing nephrologist in mind, providing clinically relevant, up-to-date practice and management guidelines on a range of nephrology topics that should prove valuable in the day-to-day practices of nephrology.
Course Objectives: Upon completion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  • Appropriately evaluate and manage hyponatremia
  • Discuss the role of hypertonic saline in the management of hyponatremia
  • Describe the role of kidney biopsy in distinguishing causes of membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis
  • Evaluate adequacy in patients on peritoneal dialysis
  • Recognize racial disparities in nephrology
  • Identify common symptoms in patients with end stage kidney disease, and describe current treatment options for those symptoms
  • Discuss various approaches to blood pressure measurement in patients with end stage kidney disease
  • Describe core concepts in home hemodialysis
  • Evaluate peripheral artery disease in patients with chronic kidney disease
  • Appropriately manage patients with chronic kidney disease in the setting of diabetes
  • Identify new and controversial issues presented in this year's nephrology literature
  • Discuss pre-transplant considerations for patients with obesity and glomerular disease
