15th Annual UCLA Liver Diseases Symposium
Needs Assessment:
The 15th Annual UCLA Liver Diseases Virtual Symposium will provide a state-of-the-art update and scientific exchange on prevalent liver diseases and their complications using a multi-disciplinary approach with hepatologists, radiologists and surgeons.
Course Objectives:
At the completion of this program, participants will be able to: (1) Identify liver failure milestones in patients with cirrhosis and understand the role of liver transplantation (2) Review the pros and cons of Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunts in patients with cirrhosis and portal hypertension. (3) Discuss updates in the management of patients with viral hepatitis B, C, and D (4) Define patients at risk for hepatocellular carcinoma and utilize serum biomarkers and imaging for its early identification and intervention (5) Review the treatment of alcoholic hepatitis and understand controversies associated with early liver transplantation (6) Treat non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and employ non-invasive tests for diagnosis (7) Discuss the role of palliative care in patients with advanced liver disease
