3rd Annual UCLA Solid Organ Transplant Symposium: New Era, Challenges, Innovations and Achievements
Needs Assessment:
The UCLA Solid Organ Transplant Symposium is offered as an in-person and live virtual conference coordinated through UCLA Health Department of Transplant Services, the UCLA Office of Continuing Medical Education and the UCLA Transplant Multi-Disciplinary teams. The goal of this program is to provide a forum for UCLA Transplant multidisciplinary team experts to discuss challenges faced by solid organ transplant teams during pre- and post-transplant patient management and how they are meeting those challenges while continuing to navigate the impact of COVID-19.
Course Objectives:
At the completion of this program, participants will be able to: (1) Discuss the role of chimerism in tolerance development after bone marrow and kidney transplant (2) Identify indications for autoislet transplantation in chronic pancreatitis (3) Demonstrate understanding of the influence of frailty in the pre- and posttransplant population and identify tools used to measure frailty (4) Provide strategies to optimize patients? clinical condition during the pretransplant phase (5) Identify measures to improve continuity of care of the transplant patient from the pharmacist?s perspective (6) Explain the challenges and impact of COVID-19 on management of transplant patients (7) Identify criteria, experience for patients with alcohol hepatitis (8) Identify biopsychosocial assessment and interventions for patients with alcohol liver disease (9) Discuss timing of transplant related to TAVR and CABG (10) Discuss updates for liver transplant for liver cancer patients and current effective treatment options
