The purpose of the Pediatric Acute Clinical Education Sessions (PACES) is to share pediatric clinical guidelines with clinicians caring for pediatric patients at community hospitals and external affiliate sites on topics such as asthma, bronchiolitis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and sepsis. A UC Davis Children’s Hospital physician will provide an overview of the selected pediatric clinical guidelines, and participants from community hospitals will be invited to present a case for group discussion.

Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:

1. Identify characteristics of Brief Resolved Unexplained Events (BRUE)
2. Recognize infants with BRUE identified as low risk per the 2016 AAP guidelines
3. Create a framework to guide medical decision-making in the evaluation of higher-risk infants with BRUE

The course material consisting of a video presentation that takes approximately 1 hour to complete.

Method of participation:

  1. View video - handout of slides are available in PDF format
  2. Complete the test (Passing score is 100% and with three possible attempts)
  3. Complete the evaluation
  4. Certificate is available after passing the test and completing the evaluation

The University of California, Davis, Health, is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The University of California, Davis, Health designates this enduring material for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses

For the purpose of recertification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME.

Physician Assistants
