39th Annual Advanced Nephrology: Nephrology for the Consultant
The UC San Diego School of Medicine Division of Nephrology-Hypertension invites you to attend the 39th Annual Advanced Nephrology: Nephrology for the Consultant conference to be held January 23-25, 2020 at the Coronado Island Marriott in San Diego, California.

This course is designed for the practicing nephrologist and aims to provide current and clinically relevant information on the evaluation and management of commonly encountered nephrology topics.

Additionally, the 17th Annual Nephrology Young Investigators Forum (YIF) will be held on Wednesday, January 22. This session features research presentations by nephrology fellows training in the Western United States, providing a glimpse into these energetic future nephrologists' work.

Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Appropriately diagnose and manage various kidney disorders (glomerulonephritis, electrolyte disorders, acute kidney injury) based on the current evidence
  • Interpret kidney biopsy pathology and tailor therapy accordingly
  • Appropriately manage bacterial peritonitis, exit site infections, and tunnel infections in patients on peritoneal dialysis
  • Effectively evaluate and manage blood pressure in patients with end-stage kidney disease
  • Develop awareness of emerging public policy changes in kidney disease, and learn the impact of these changes on clinical care
  • Recognize medications to be adjusted or discontinued in chronic kidney disease
  • Incorporate shared decision-making tools into care plans for patients considering dialysis
  • Identify new and controversial issues presented in this year's nephrology literature
  • Confidently manage hospitalized kidney transplant patients
