2019 Update in Rheumatology: Highlights from the ACR and EULAR Meetings
The goal of this activity is to provide rheumatologists with current, evidence-based data that can be translated into clinical practice in order to maximize therapeutic goals and optimize healthcare outcomes for patients with various rheumatic diseases. This ½ day, comprehensive CME activity will utilize evidence-based data around the management of rheumatic diseases. Didactic teaching, along with interactive discussions and case-based discussion will enhance the relevancy providing rheumatologists with the ability to apply the latest data into clinical practice.

Activity Name: 2019 Update in Rheumatology: Highlights from the ACR and EULAR Meetings
Description: The goal of this activity is to provide rheumatologists with current, evidence-based data that can be translated into clinical practice in order to maximize therapeutic goals and optimize healthcare outcomes for patients with various rheumatic diseases. This ½ day, comprehensive CME activity will utilize evidence-based data around the management of rheumatic diseases. Didactic teaching, along with interactive discussions and case-based discussion will enhance the relevancy providing rheumatologists with the ability to apply the latest data into clinical practice.
Course Objectives: At the conclusion of this activity participants should be able to:

  • Examine the immunopathogenesis underlying various rheumatologic, systemic infammatory, autoimmune disorders.

  • Recognize the importance of early and aggressive management of rheumatologic diseases in order to optimize longer term outcomes.

  • Discuss the mechanisms of action of various drugs and immunomodulatory agents commonly used in rheumatology and be aware of their place in current guidelines.

  • Explain the possible adverse events, common and uncommon, that may be associated with the use of various immunomodulatory agents; describe how to stratify and monitor patients to optimize safety.

  • Discuss the importance of shared decision making and effective clinician-patient communications.

  • Recognize major issues and advances related to the management of patients with rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, vasculitis, psoriatic arthritis, axial spondyloarthritis, gout, pseudogout, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and other common rheumatologic disorders.
