The purpose of the Pediatric Acute Clinical Education Sessions (PACES) is to share pediatric clinical guidelines with clinicians caring for pediatric patients at community hospitals and external affiliate sites on topics such as asthma, bronchiolitis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and sepsis. A UC Davis Children’s Hospital physician will provide an overview of the selected pediatric clinical guidelines, and a participants from community hospitals will be invited to present a case for group discussion.

Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:
1. Discuss evidence-based bronchiolitis clinical guidelines for treating Pediatric Bronchiolitis. 
2. Describe the use respiratory assessment score to evaluate infants.
3. Identify parameters for high-flow nasal cannula and transfer.

The course material consisting of a video presentation that takes approximately 1 hour to complete.

Method of participation:

  1. View video - handout of slides are available in PDF format
  2. Complete the test (must pass 100% – you have three chances)
  3. Complete the evaluation
  4. Certificate is available after passing test and complete evaluation

The University of California, Davis, Health, is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Physician Credit: The University of California, Davis, Health, designates this Enduring Material for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits ™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ acceptable for multidisciplinary team members

Nurse:  For the purpose of recertification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME.  For the purpose of relicensure, the California Board of Registered Nursing accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (report hours of credit and fill in “CME Category 1” for the provider number).

Physician Assistant: The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) states that AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ are acceptable for continuing medical education requirements for recertification.
