12th Annual UCLA Liver Diseases Symposium
Needs Assessment:
This symposium will serve as an educational forum for the Southern California physician community for the scientific exchange of information regarding the diagnosis and treatment, medical and surgical, of the most prevalent liver diseases.
Course Objectives:
At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
Discuss new epidemiology of patients with hepatitis C
Explain the medical options for patients with NASH and the metabolic syndrome
Describe treatment of ascites and hepatic encephalopathy
Implement treatment guidelines for hepatitis B during pregnancy
Order different tests for the non-invasive assessment of liver fibrosis
Identify tumors that are amenable to surgical treatment
