Description: Course Information
Needs Assessment: The goal of this conference is to enhance clinician performance consistent with new clinical guidelines, upgrades in diagnosis, medical and interventional approaches, management of the most common cardiovascular diseases, consideration of less common cardiovascular conditions, and approaches to clinical challenges and utility of innovative methods.

The conference will provide practitioners with state-of-the-art methods to help improve their skills in all the aforementioned fields of diagnosis, treatment and preventive clinical options. Faculty for this conference are selected for their clinical expertise, academic excellence, communication skills and rapport with learners in and outside of the classroom.
Course Objectives:
  • Perform state-of-the-art contemporary treatment of atrial fibrillation.
  • Identify need for referral in patients with cardiac valvular disease.
  • Apply new therapies for systolic and diastolic heart failure.
  • Utilize guide-line recommended preventive approaches to manage cardiac risk factors.
  • Recognize the utility and limiations of the new high sensitivity cardiac troponins.
  • Recognize benefits and limitations of medical and interventional therapy for CAD.
  • Clarify symptoms, prognosis and management of heart disease in women.
  • Choose the proper noninvasive test for detection and prognosis of cardiac disease.
  • Comprehend the echocardiography report.
  • Appraise advances in nonsurgical cardiac valve interventions.
  • Interpret important ECG abnormalities.
  • Apply the latest approaches to manage low risk patients with chest pain.
