16th Annual UC Davis Primary Care Pharmacotherapy Conference
Needs Assessment:
This activity is designed to improve competence in the diagnosis, pharmacologic treatment and general management of patients in the primary care setting. Our conference will focus on specific topics important for the busy practitioner. It will provide practitioners with evidence-based methods and strategies to assist in providing better treatment options for patients.
Course Objectives:
At the end of the activity, participants should be able to:
Discuss the diagnostic criteria for Opioid Use Disorder
List the therapeutic options for OUD available to the primary care physician/nurse practitioner
Recognize the importance of treating comorbid depression associated with medical illnesses for optimal outcomes
Utilize the newest therapeutic guidelines and pharmaceutical agents available to treat mood and anxiety disorders
Describe an approach to managing pain that helps patients achieve optimal relief management while minimizing the risk of tolerance and addiction
Review previous treatment and risk factor control in patients with established diabetes
Explain the recent changes in regulatory expectations around opioids with emphasis on the CDC guidelines
List the medications with the strongest evidence to treat essential hypertension according to the JNC-8 Guidelines
Identify patients appropriate for PrEP therapy
