Emergency Medicine 2018: 41st Annual UC Davis Winter Conference
Needs Assessment:
As the first line of defense against injury and illness, emergency medicine providers serve an extraordinary public safety function. Health care delivery models, reimbursement, and the technical care of medical and trauma patients is changing rapidly. Based upon participant evaluations, survey feedback, and other assessment methods, the need for cutting edge updates about emergency medicine has been identified. This course is designed to change provider knowledge and competence in areas identified in the needs assessments, including:
Airway Management Lab
Point-of-Care Ultrasound Lab
Traumatic Injuries
Poisonings
EKG Interpretation
Pediatric Emergencies
Critical Care
Physician Wellness
Pain Management
Course Objectives:
At the end of the activity, participants should be able to:
Identify and use proper equipment for difficult airway management
Select and dose appropriate antidotes and reversal agents for acute poisonings
and anticoagulants
Prioritize management options in multisystem trauma patients
Incorporate point-of-care ultrasound into routine emergency practice
Apply evidence-based decision making during critical trauma management
Integrate strategies to improve physician well being
