Activity Name:	Western Society of Pediatric Nephrology (WSPN) Annual Meeting
Needs Assessment:	The Western Society of Pediatric Nephrology (WSPN) conference is an annual conference for pediatric nephrologists from the Western United States. The conference will include lectures, presentations and discussions on diverse topics in pediatric kidney diseases including state-of-the-art research, therapies and potential future directions. The agenda includes sessions on renal transplantation, CKD-MBD, nephrotic syndrome and its genetics. Target Audience The Western Society of Pediatric Nephrology (WSPN) conference is targeted toward pediatric nephrologists, trainees (fellows, residents and medical students interested in a career in pediatric nephrology), researchers and nurses.
Course Objectives:	At the conclusion of this intensive, one-day symposium, participants will be able to: Recognize and treat bone and vascular complications in children with chronic kidney disease. Describe the most recent advances in post-transplant maintenance and induction immunosuppression and how these may be applied in pediatric renal transplantation. Apply the most successful desensitization guidelines for sensitized patients awaiting renal transplantation. Understand the critical role played by FGF-23 in pediatric patients with chronic kidney disease. Advocate for post-transplant immune monitoring in the successful management of post-transplant outcomes in pediatric kidney transplant recipients. Apply the newest approaches to the treatment of challenging patients in their practice with nephrotic syndrome.
