Course Objectives:
At the end of the activity, participants should be able to:
Explain concepts regarding the most important publications in Infectious Diseases
Discuss the issues regarding identification, prevention and treatment of the Zika virus and other emerging viral pathogens
Define the issues regarding management of patients with HIV infection
Describe the epidemiology, manifestations and management of Coccidioidomycosis
Illustrate the role that antimicrobial use plays in the development of resistance in bacterial infections and the role of newer antimicrobials in treating these infections
Recognize the recent controversies in the diagnosis and management of Clostridium difficile infection
Manage patients with chronic Hepatitis B & C infections taking nto account the newer, directly acting antiviral agents
