This course was created for University of California, Davis healthcare providers and staff using fluoroscopic equipment and is available to the public.  The program can be used for credentialing of physicians who perform fluoroscopy. _______________________________________________________________________________

Global Objective for series
Be aware of the importance of radiation safety as it relates to fluoroscopy practice. When treating patients, physicians often forget to consider the "invisible" threat of radiation. The goal of this activity is to reduce the radiation doses to both patient and staff by describing the radiation hazards and explaining how to reduce exposure.

Activity Objective
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

   1. Describe the acronym DICOM.
   2. Identify when Cassette-based digital radiography (CR) has an advantage(s) over cassette-less Digital Radiography (DR).
   3. Identify when DR has the advantage(s) over CR.

This internet enduring material consisting of an article takes approximately 1.0 hour to complete.
CME credit is obtained upon reviewing the lecture, submitting the online evaluation and successfully passing the test. An electronic CME certificate will be available after requirements are completed.
