GAP Many pediatric providers are unaware that they are able to actively help parents quit smoking by prescribing nicotine replacement therapy and referring parents to the CA Smokers' Quitline. This course teaches pediatric providers how to screen children for SHS exposure, and how to help parents quit smoking to protect their children from SHS and THS.
BRIEF SUMMARY This course teaches pediatric providers how to screen children for secondhand smoke exposure, and how to help parents quit smoking to protect their children from secondhand smoke and thirdhand smoke.
OBJECTIVE After viewing the course video, participants should be able to list 3 effects of secondhand smoke and thirdhand smoke on children.
Target Audience This free activity was designed for University of California faculty, staff and students but also open to other healthcare professionals. Note: all respiratory care practitioners (RCP) wanting RCP credit must 1. select "Respiratory Therapist" as their occupation and 2. enter their RCP number in the evaluation form.
