Activity Name:	UC Irvine Comprehensive Stroke and Neurocritical Care Symposium
Description:	New Era of Innovation in Stroke Care
Needs Assessment:	Once each week the Stroke Steering Committee which includes the Director Stroke Program, Faculty and Staff meet to review the Stroke Center Program process and events including the need for a UC Irvine Stroke Symposium. It is a requirement from Joint Commission and the OC EMS that UC Irvine Comprehensive Stroke Program educate the healthcare community on current Stroke guidelines. UC Irvine is the leader in the county for stroke and is committed to present current research, prevention and treatment options for stroke. The planning committee also receives requests from clinicians from UC Irvine and outside hospitals on the need for a Stroke Symposium. This year: 1) UC Irvine Stroke Center is collaborating with other UC systems, UCLA and UCSD, and invited stroke experts from these comprehensive stroke centers to discuss hot topics in stroke care. 2) New Guidelines for Stroke have been established and the 2019 UCI Stroke Symposium will review significant changes to stroke care.
Course Objectives:	Objectives: * Identify best practices in acute management/treatment for ischemic and hemorrhage stroke * Discuss the need for specific cerebrovascular endovascular expertise when caring for intracranial disease * Describe current evidence based on research on secondary stroke prevention * Identify best practices in facilitating recovery for the stroke patient
