Advances in Cardiovascular Medicine 2016
Needs Assessment:
As a result of previous conference participant evaluations and our community physician annual needs assessment survey, the need for updated information about primary care cardiology has been identified. The goal of this conference is to change provider behavior in the areas of new clinical guidelines, advances in diagnosis, medical and interventional management of cardiovascular disease, approaches to challenging clinical problems, and innovative methods. The conference will provide practitioners with state-of-the-art tools to help them improve their skills in all the foregoing areas of diagnosis, treatment and preventive options for their patients. Faculty presenting and interacting with participants at this activity have been selected on the basis of their comprehensive clinical experience, academic excellence, and educational effectiveness.
Course Objectives:
At the end of the activity, participants should be able to:
Apply the latest management of cardiac risk factors
Provide contemporary therapy for atrial fibrillation
Recognize the need for referral in patients with valvular disease
Counsel patients on complementary medicine methods
Assess symptoms, treatment, and prevention of cardiac disease in women
Select the proper stress tests for detection and prognosis of cardiac disease
Utilize stress reduction techniques
Provide optimal heart failure treatment
Understand the Echo report
Interpret common ECG
abnormalities
