Learning Objectives  
After viewing the course, the learner will be able to:
  1. Address some of the reasons underlying the high prevalence of smoking among persons in addition treatment;
  2. Explain the role of smoking in excess mortality as well as premature mortality among persons who receive addiction treatment;
  3. Improve approaches to addressing smoking in addiction treatment populations;
  4. Identify the rate of quit attempts for persons in addiction treatment, and implement strategies for increasing quit attempts.


Method of Participation/ Instruction for Obtaining Credit

To obtain credit, participants should view the recorded webinar (streaming from ReadyTalk), answer the multiple-choice test questions, and complete the evaluation form online to receive a certificate. 

You must receive a score of 80% or better to earn a certificate. You will have an unlimited number of attempts to successfully complete the post-test.  Your certificate will be available immediately for print or download upon completion of the entire activity.

The estimated time to complete this activity is 1.50 hours, which is equivalent to 1.50 credits.

Accreditation

The University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine (UCSF) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

UCSF designates this enduring material for a maximum of 1.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurse Practitioners and Registered Nurses: For the purpose of recertification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME.

If you are a pharmacist in another state, you should check with your state board for approval of this credit.

Social Workers: This course meets the qualifications for 1.5 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. If you a social worker in another state, you should check with your state board for approval of this credit.
