Filmed lectures of the Clinical Pharmacotherapy Conference (CPC). This activity was held March 14-16, 2014. There is a $125 registration fee for this activity with 12 hour and 40 minutes of video. Objectives - At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

      Chronic Medical Conditions

  1. Describe an approach to managing pain that helps patients achieve optimal relief management while minimizing the risk of addiction.
  2. Compare the benefits of different pharmacotherapies for preventing orthopaedic and spine fractures in post-menopausal patients.
  3. List the common strategies for primary prevention of heart disease in women.
  4. Evaluate various skin lesions, both benign and malignant, organize into typical dermatologic categories and based on this recognize when to treat and when to refer.
  5. Recognize how to deal with our adolescent, obese patients in an effective way, by motivating them to use proper diet, exercise and weight loss.
     
    Mental Health Psychopharmacology
  6. Recognize and alter potentially reversible risk factors of Alzheimer’s disease years before symptoms and signs are manifested using  both simple and complex.
  7. Formulate the most effective medication combination to Alzheimer’s patients to maximize functional ability, and improve the patient/ family quality of life.
  8. Utilize the newest therapeutic guidelines and pharmaceutical agents available to treat mood and anxiety disorders.
  9. Define the major changes to mood disorders listed in the DSM 5.
  10. Recognize the early and late findings of PTSD and describe the evidenc-based treatements relevant for both impatient and outpatient care.

Geriatric Competency Requirement:
The Geriatric Medical Training Act of 2000 requires general internists and family physicians caring for a patient population in which 25 percent or greater are 65 years old or older must complete at least 20 percent of all mandatory continuing education hours in geriatric medicine or the care of older patients. (California Business and Professions Code, Section 2190.3).  Up to 5.50 hours of credit available.

Nurse:  For the purpose of recertification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Category 12.75 Credits™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME.  For the purpose of relicensure, the California Board of Registered Nursing accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (report hours of credit and fill in “CME Category 1” for the provider number).

Physician Assistant: The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) states that AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ are acceptable for continuing medical education requirements for recertification.


PHARMACIST:

The University of California, Davis Health System Department of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Pharmacists must complete the entire activity to receive full ACPE credit.
