39th Annual Residents Paper Day and 32nd Annual Philip J. DiSaia Society Symposium
Live Virtual Annual UCI one-day OBGYN Paper Day Symposium
Activity Details
Activity Name: 39th Annual Residents Paper Day and 32nd Annual Philip J. DiSaia Society Symposium
Description: Live Virtual Annual UCI one-day OBGYN Paper Day Symposium
Needs Assessment: Expert Needs: As experts presenting original research in a CME setting, it is important that evidence-based medicine as contained in the presented peer-reviewed literature is effectively communicated to the audience.

Participant Needs: Audience participants need to have material presented in an effective manner through which their existing fund of knowledge can be built upon. For this reason, the presentations are staged with background provided first, followed by methodology, observations and then interpretation/discussion to discuss the clinical relevance of the observations and how they fit into the existing body of literature in the subject.

Observed Needs: Not only does the original research need to undergo peer review and publication but the results and clinical relevance need to be endorsed by specialty societies, possibly through abstract presentation of the original work at national meetings.
Course Objectives: Objectives:
* Determine the association between rectocele on defecography and physical examination
* Describe radiologic and 5 of 10 clinical predictors of surgical intervention for rectocele
* Discuss potential predictors of surgical outcomes for rectocele repair
* Discuss the linguistic challenges in our Spanish speaking patient population
* Analyze areas of improvement for language-discordant providers
* Appraise need for medical Spanish attainment in residency
* Describe common factors associated with developing bowel obstruction after sacrocolpopexy
* Clarify the possible presenting symptoms of bowel obstruction after sacrocolpopexy
